áFreshman Lady Bulldogs Win Conference Championship
á
The Freshman Lady Bulldogs avenged 3 regular season losses to Scottsbluffáon Thursdayánight when they defeated the Scottsbluff Bearcats 56 to 48 to win the Freshman Conference Championship.á Scottsbluff defeated the hometown Bulldogs by 13 points on Feb. 7th.á This is the Lady Bulldogs first Freshman Conference Championship in over 15 years.

Scottsbluff jumped out to a 13 to 5 lead early in the first quarter, however the Lady Bulldog defensive intensity improved and they outscored the Bearcats 21 to 11 to finish the half, taking a 26 to 24 lead into halftime.

á
The 2nd half saw several lead changes with no team leading by more than 3 points throughout most of the 3rd quarter.á The Lady Bulldogs struggled from the free throw line throughout the game, however Kaylee McDonald, Marque Crowe, Taylor Hopp and Sydney Nordeen all made key free throws down the stretch to help put the game away.
á
Coach Travis Hawk lauded the Bulldogs defensive efforts and defensive rebounding.á Gaining special praise were Marque Crowe, Kaylee McDonald, Madison Morgan and Sydney Nordeen who all took turns defending Hailey Franklin, who scored 30 points on Alliance in their last meeting.á In the Championship Game she was held to just 7 points.á

Kaylee McDonald led all scorers with 22, Taylor Hopp added 10, Grace Tolstedt put in 8, Marque Crowe scored 7, Sydney Nordeen chipped in 6 and Shae Toof and Madison Morgan scored 2 and 1 respectively to round out the Bulldog Scoring.
á
The Lady Bulldogs end the season Freshman Conference Champs and 10 and 5 on the season (only losing to Sidney and Scottsbluff in the regular season).á The Freshman Lady Bulldogs are coached by Travis Hawk and volunteer assistant Steve Hopp.

Criminal Justice Career Day
Several students from AHS attended the Criminal Justice Career Day at WNCC on February 18. áIt was an interactive learning opportunity. á Students visited with detectives, crime scene investigators, police officers, deputy sheriffs, Nebraska State Patrol, and correctional officers for an inside look into these rewarding careers.

Representatives from over 30 colleges, universities and the military will be in attendance. áThe purpose of the program is to give high school students and their parents an opportunity to discuss admission requirements, housing, financial aid, scholarships and specific majors. á An EducationQuest rep will be there to provide information to NE students about scholarship searching and financial aid.
